The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Lung Medical Oncology service is a national and international leader in clinical trials of novel targeted therapies and immunotherapies for lung cancer. The lung medical oncology fellow’s responsibilities will be focussed on the conduct of clinical trials as well as the delivery of standard medical oncology treatments and clinical care for patients with lung cancer and thoracic malignancies within the lung tumour stream. The position is ideally suited to Advanced trainees who are completing or have just completed their FRACP There are numerous research opportunities available. It will also be possible to work towards a higher research degree

To provide high quality patient treatment and care, contribute to a research program and participate in education

  • Attendance to selected outpatient clinics and clinics in Day Ward
  • Completes all patient related documentation according to the Centre’s needs
  • Participates in after-hour and weekend cover roster for medical oncology
  • Liaises and communicates with the multidisciplinary treating team
  • Contributes to team meetings and educational activities
  • Actively and regularly participates in peer review patient related activities
  • Participates in departmental research projects and audits
  • Works effectively with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Close liaison with specialist members of the medical oncology Unit
  • Follows hospital policies and procedures

Essential qualifications

  • Medical Qualifications registerable by the Medical Board of Victoria
  • Completed at least two years of registrar level of training in medical oncology
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines
  • Previous clinical trial experience an advantage
